Organizational Commitment on Innovative Mindsets in an Organization

Introduction

In the contemporary business world, organizations are confronting huge market competition and they need to do constant changes to achieve competitive advantage. Then, organizations need to promote an innovative culture and innovative mindset within the workplace. Organizational commitment plays a vital role in promoting and maintaining an innovative workplace (Agrawala, 2003).

Organizational Commitment

Commitment can be defined as the individual’s attachment and allegiance to an organization. It is the employees’ emotional addon towards their workplace (Supartha, et al., 2018). The victory of any organization depends on employees’ organizational commitment. The organizational commitment extends beyond the employees’ membership with the company and here, employees are intentionally willing to follow and accept organizational norms, beliefs, work practices to achieve its goals and objectives (Robbins & Judge, 2007). Employees show better commitment by internalizing organizational facets ( Adnan, et al., 2018). There are three types of organizational commitment such as,

       1. Affective commitment - the emotive inclination of individuals to hold with the organization.

       2. Normative commitment- Commitment to organizational norms and standards.

       3. Continuance commitment- Commitment to uphold the membership with the organization (Sinbelaween, et al., 2005).

Innovative Mindsets within Employees

Organizational innovations strategies mostly become failure due to lack of innovative mindset within the individuals in the organizational hierarchy. Innovative mindset refers individuals’ intention and preparedness for innovations (Jafri, 2010).  Such employees are very curious, open, embrace failures etc. Organizational innovations become a dream without motivated people and innovative mindset within individuals lead to think beyond the limits, enhance creativity, learning through mistakes and find solutions for prevailing organizational problems (Agrawala, 2003).

Impact of Organizational Commitment on Innovative Mindsets

Organizational commitment has a greater impact on employees’ innovative mindset. Organizations required an extra role within its workforce to enhance their innovations. Committed employees tend to do new innovations to fulfill customer needs (Jafri, 2010). Higher level of organizational commitment ensured higher innovative behaviors in the workplace. Employee affective commitment leads to enhance their motivation to find new things within organizations (Sinaga, et al., 2021). Committed employees are highly creative in the workplace to make solutions for organizational problems. Employees tend to enhance their performance through innovation while working (Robbins & Judge, 2007).

Conclusion

Organizational commitment leads to create employees with innovative mindsets as committed employees are largely embraced organizational changes and tend to solve organizational problems through innovations (Jafri, 2010). Committed employees constantly bring benefits to organizations through innovative mindsets (Agrawala, 2003).
